Rayonism is a style of abstract art born in Russia in 1911.  It is a predecessor to Futurism that developed around the concept of speed, modernity, and technical innovation. Rayonism is about stepping away from the normal conventions of abstract art to become something beyond mere abstraction. Rayonsim features contrasting and intersectiong rays of color that represent how we see an object through rays of light to our field of vision.  Rayonism is about progress and movement.
